I would like to thank the University of the West Indies for having Dr. Conrad lecture on it takes a village to raise a reader and a writer. Many at times when children do not succeed in reading and writing, no one wants to take the blame for their failures.
But, aren’t we all responsible for kids success or failure? Therefore we all need to be responsible, and fulfil our duties to our nation kids. Because when they fail the blame will not be one person’s shoulder. We all will have to shoulder the responsibility. So in the words of Dr. Conrad it takes a village to raise “A reader and a writer.” We are all villagers in that village and we need to fulfil our role as villagers in that village. We all have to collaborate to ensure all kids become capable reader and writer.
Hi Lynette,
ReplyDeleteI remember using this quote; it takes a village to raise a child, with my brethren at the birth of my son. Invting others to share the responsibility of child rearing is a must whether the child is in a school or a house. Collaboration among teachers within and across schools is a must. This high-tech information age that we have entered demands that we as teachers support one another because maybe for the first time the students collectively may know a lot more than the teachers, they have been chatting and blogging online for ages before we as teachers even began thinking of using technology in teaching. I am happy that this programme has brought so many teachers from different disciplines together to work for the betterment of our students.
